Dr. Hamilton received a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Victoria where she conducted research on pediatric kidney cancer and basic science of protein-nucleic acid interactions. Her postdoctoral work was on prostate cancer research where she helped develop Topsalysin, a fusion molecule now used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer. Over the years, she has received numerous honours and awards for her scientific research including a joint research grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation “Stars in Global Health”. She completed her medical training and dermatology residency training in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia.
She runs a busy community dermatology practice in Victoria, and is actively involved in the ongoing training of medical students and Dermatology residents. Her philosophy is to provide world class service combining cutting edge scientific expertise with a gentle hand. Dr. Hamilton has a laudable bedside manner with multiple testimonials to support this. Dr. Hamilton’s diverse interests include not only science and medicine, but also, in very broad terms, the arts. Painting, cooking and fashion are very consistent hobbies since early childhood. She also loves travelling, experiencing diverse cultures and has a keen interest in foreign languages.
